Comparing online shop trustmarks and review platforms
A trustmark assesses a business against predefined requirements. A review platform collects and shows customer experiences. This comparison helps you choose, listing for each provider only facts we could check with that provider.
Updated on 10 October 2026
The short answer
- Do you want an assessment of whether your online shop meets fixed requirements, with a complaints or dispute route for consumers? Then look at a trustmark with a dispute scheme.
- Do you mainly want to collect and show reviews? Then look at a review platform, and at how that platform checks reviews.
- Does a provider offer both? Then check whether the assessment is independent of the review score and of what you pay.
Trustmark or review platform?
A trustmark tells you something about the business: does it meet the requirements set by the trustmark holder, for example on business details, terms and returns? Some trustmarks also offer mediation or a dispute committee if you cannot resolve a problem with the business.
A review platform tells you something about experiences: what did customers think? The differences lie mainly in who may write a review, how reviews are checked and when a review is removed. Many providers do both, but not in the same way.
Trustmarks differ in what they assess. So always read exactly what is assessed, by whom and how often.
Seven questions to ask before you choose
- Who assesses what, and how often: only at sign-up, through spot checks or every year?
- Is there a complaints or dispute scheme for consumers, and is the decision binding?
- Who may write a review: only invited customers, anyone, or both?
- How are reviews checked, and when are they rejected or removed?
- Does payment change anything about scores, visibility or moderation?
- What does it cost, including setup fees, and how long does the contract run?
- In which countries and languages is your profile visible?
Providers at a glance
trustmark.site is itself a provider in this market. That is why we give no scores and no ranking. For each provider, we only state what it says on its own website, with source and date. We deliberately do not mention other providers’ prices: they change and differ per plan.

trustmark.site
Review platform with a separate trustmark assessment
- New reviews first wait for review. If they are not approved or rejected sooner, they are published automatically: after 48 hours for 4 or 5 stars, after 14 days for 1, 2 or 3 stars.
- Google ratings are shown separately, with source and measurement date. The calculation rules for scores and rankings are public.
- The trustmark follows from a separate assessment of four areas. Payment does not change the outcome.
- There are Dutch, German and English-language editions.
What we do not currently offer: a dispute committee or formal mediation (this is being prepared) and a purchase guarantee. The price of certification is still being set, and the application route requires a Dutch KvK number.
Where other providers currently offer more
Do you want to offer consumers a binding dispute scheme or buyer protection? Then Thuiswinkel Waarborg, WebwinkelKeur and Trusted Shops, according to their own information, offer something trustmark.site does not currently offer. If you are looking for an open platform where anyone can write a review without an invitation, that is how Trustpilot works.
trustmark.site suits you if you want reviews, business information and a separate trustmark assessment on one profile, with public calculation rules and without a plan changing anything about scores, rankings or trustmark decisions.
